Roadmap

Seafront Games is a solo studio. Roadmaps for We Need More Humans are community posts, not a Trello with dates. This page splits shipped, publicly promised then shipped in 1.0, and player wishes that are not dated promises. We will not turn a Steam comment into a patch preview.

For the launch itself, read release notes. For May–June demo notes, read the demo changelog.

Shipped in 1.0 (1 September 2026)

These were on Matt’s 14 June “coming to the full game” list and then appeared in launch reviews or the Steam gallery:

  • More upgrades — the late hex clusters, Arm Beam Capacity at $250M, Instant Abduction, crop-circle chance.
  • More locations — neon night, dense 27k city, snow, suburb, desert. See locations.
  • More evolutions — the gag ladder on the evolution tier list.
  • Game modes — Normal plus extras and Endless, per launch reviews. How to complete.
  • Customisation — extra saucers and beams. Reviews say visual only.

Also shipped because they are on the store page: 19 achievements, Steam Cloud, full controller support, ten languages, a 500 MB Windows build.

Publicly discussed, not a dated patch

Matt has replied to reviews with the tone of a solo dev who hears you and is not going to pretend the tree is a MOBA. Examples:

  • A player called the game soulless / a copy; Matt named the inspirations and said if the dopamine is not hitting, it is not hitting.
  • A player said money wiped every round; Matt said that should not happen and offered to look at a bug.
  • Demo-era Reddit replies mentioned QoL, different humans, and a future Steam page (the Steam page then happened).

None of those replies is “branching trees in October.” Do not wishlist a respec based on this wiki.

Player wishes (not promised)

Steam reviews and comments keep asking for the same extras. We list them so you know the gap; we do not schedule them:

  • Real branching that locks other paths.
  • Stat bonuses on cosmetic ships.
  • Better tooltips and an onboarding line that says “fly over the glowing pads.”
  • Endgame that does not stall when population stops climbing.
  • A glorious finale (one reviewer wanted Independence Day building-flattening).
  • Steam Deck verification (press mentioned it; store still says unknown).
  • Mobile (a YouTube comment; not a Seafront promise).
  • Controller-friendly tree inspection.
  • FPS stability on 30k-entity maps.

If any of these ships, it will move to release notes with a date. Until then, play around the gaps with controls, the late game build, and the upgrade checklist.

How to read Seafront’s pace

Scoot was the studio’s previous hit (Matt’s press kit: 90% positive, 40k copies). We Need More Humans is a shorter joke incremental. Expect small notes, not seasonal battle passes. Support email on Steam is matt@seafrontgames.com. Socials are on the links hub.

This wiki will update the skill tree and tier list hub if a patch actually changes node order. We will not add a fake “Season 2” page.

If you are deciding whether to wait: the game is released. Waiting only makes sense if the linear tree is a deal-breaker for you. In that case the review already told you to skip or demo. A future branching patch would be a bonus, not the product you buy today.

Until a dated Steam news post exists, play the game that shipped: getting started, upgrade priority, how to complete. Wishlist wishes do not change the Beam Capacity order. If Matt posts a numbered patch that actually splits the tree, this page will shrink and the tier list hub will grow. That is the deal.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is there an official Trello?

No public Trello is advertised on the Steam page. This roadmap is built from community posts and reviews.

Will the skill tree get real choices?

Players want that. It is not a dated Seafront promise. Play the linear tree or wait.

Are cosmetics getting stats later?

Unknown. Launch reviews say they have none today.

Is Steam Deck confirmed?

Press mentioned support; the store still lists compatibility as unknown.

Where do I send bug reports?

matt@seafrontgames.com and Steam discussions. Links are collected on the links hub.
