We Need More Humans Updates

Demo fixes, the full launch, and the public roadmap in one timeline.

Updates Hub

We Need More Humans did not appear from nowhere on 1 September 2026. Seafront Games shipped a free demo on 27 May 2026, took it through Steam Next Fest in June, posted a handful of honest patch notes, then launched the full incremental on Steam. This hub is the timeline. Use it if you are returning from the demo, if a mechanic on this wiki disagrees with an old YouTube video, or if you want to know whether Matt Cole has promised branching trees (short answer: not as a dated patch).

Pages

  • Release notes — full launch, intro sale, what the 1.0 build added over the demo.
  • Demo changelog — 31 May bugfix, 4 June QoL rename pass, 14 June post-clear tree expansion.
  • Roadmap — modes, customisation, more maps/evolutions, and what is still a wish.

Pair these with the review for the Mixed Steam score, and with getting started if you are installing cold.

Why the demo still matters

Most of the big YouTube playthroughs — GrayStillPlays, ImCade, Ctop, Kro — recorded the demo. They are still useful for the beam, the joke Evolutions, and the linear tree. They under-count locations, modes, and customisation. Whenever this wiki cites a population number from a video, we try to flag demo versus full gallery. Official Steam screenshots for app 4436560 are the full-release visual source: desert 23, snow 336, suburb 5,675, neon 14,388, dense city 27,684.

Demo patches also explain names on the skill tree. Max Abductee became Beam Capacity. Arm Max Abductee became Arm Beam Capacity. Crop Circle Chance became Crop Circle Chance Each Second. If an old guide uses the first names, it is not a different game.

How we will update this hub

When Steam news posts a numbered patch, it goes on release notes. When the developer tweets a maybe, it goes on the roadmap as a maybe. We will not invent patch versions. If your cash wipes between rounds, that contradicts Matt’s review reply — treat it as a bug and check Steam discussions, not as a new prestige layer we forgot to document.
